While capturing Hunting Above the Reeds, we witnessed a rare sight: barn owls from nearby barns hunting in full daylight. Overnight temperatures had fallen to nearly –20°F, and the extreme cold had reduced normal prey activity. Driven to hunt beyond their usual hours, the owls gave us an extraordinary opportunity to follow and photograph them as they searched the winter marsh.
